What sets Unitech apart is of our manufacturing capabilities. Unitech specializes in Hand Laid Up and Filament Winding manufacturing. This coupled with our tight tolerance composite CNC machining allows us to manufacture and assemble almost any aerospace composite part.

Clean Rooms

Unitech uses CCA clean rooms for all composite layup. All rooms are Humidity, Temperature and Positive Pressure controlled and all technicians wear Personal Protection Equipment to prevent FOD transfer.

Autoclave Curing

Unitech Composites has 4 3 certified autoclaves with state of the art controls including heat up rate, dwell times, pressurization and cooling.

Hand Lay-Up

Unitech has extensive experience manufacturing composite parts with prepreg hand lay up techniques. UCI’s continual investment in Ply Cutters, Clean Rooms, Autoclaves, Laser Projection Systems, as well as training and retaining our dedicated technicians is what allows Unitech to provide a range of low through high complexity composite parts which meet and exceed our customer expectations.

Filament Winding

Unitech has 3 automated Filament Winding machines that are used to fabricate composite parts requiring continuous filament laminates. These machines, helical and polar winders, are crucial to several components associated with the main rotor hub system for the MD Helicopters 902 program.

These machines are used to create custom layup solutions that can maximize strength to weight in structural applications as well as continuous tubular parts. Parts range in size from the smallest, a few square inches and a single layer thick, to sections of a helicopter Rotor Blade.

Composite CNC

Unitech companies have some of the best composite CNC capabilities in industry. We have different machines and sizes in order to meet the requirements of the smallest airframe bracket to large F-35 surface seals. We have 12,000 ft2 of space dedicated to CNC machining and routing.

Holding tight CNC tolerances is a specialty at Unitech. This is accomplished through the quality of the machines we use, set up and installation of the equipment and the expertise in our CNC programmers and operators.

Laser Projection Systems

Unitech uses state-of-the-art Virtek LPS-7, LPS-10 and LAP Laser Projection Systems to facilitate and guide in hand layup of composite parts. Virtek’s LPS-10 is a 3D laser system designed to increase productivity, ensure placement accuracy and helps control the process for repeatability.

Both of our locations have NDI/NDT capability as well as Digital Inspection Devices.
